Meaning Riverplace Cottage, Bwthyn Ger Afon has recently undergone extensive renovation whilst retaining original character features and attributes. There is no inglenook fireplace in Bwthyn Ger Afon, but the chimney breast wall more than makes up for this and is a lovely feature dressed with some fantastic artwork of the Ffestiniog Railway. A slate hearth houses the Tiger cast iron multi fuel woodburning stove. There are exposed ceiling beams downstairs, and reproduction paneling on the open staircase. The kitchen area is well equipped and is modern in styling with spotlighting, whilst retaining a country cottage look and feel to it.
The spacious bedroom upstairs is light and bright and has been very well appointed with king size bed and with the addition of a sitting area, it has been thought out with couples who are seeking some romance in mind.
Bwthyn Ger Afon exudes a warm friendly welcome, along with providing comfortable accommodation appointed to an extremely high standard throughout. Situated in a quiet terrace in the village of Tanygrisiau, meaning ‘Under the Steps’, The cottage is away from the main thoroughfare, and with no passing traffic makes it a ‘perfect getaway from it all’ location
The cottage stands amongst some dramatic scenery and enjoys views of countryside & hillside encompassing the Manod mountains at the front with a craggy backdrop of the Moelwyn mountains which protect the village from much of the wind from northerly gales in the winter and give the village a pleasant southerly aspect with relatively mild weather considering how high it’s located in Snowdonia.
There are some fantastic walks, lakes & waterfalls from the cottage, and the area is great for fishing and golfing. The Lakeside café is only a 2 minute walk from the cottage and the village pub is about a 20 minute walk away.
The slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog is only 1.5 miles away and offers an array of eating establishments, pubs, shops, chemist, garage & leisure centre/swimming pool.
